Zion Ponderosa is located high in the pines at nearly 6,500 feet above sea level on the east plateau overlooking the park. Surrounded by a forest of ponderosa pine, Zion Ponderosa was once home to a pioneer logging camp. Many of the old pioneer trails and Zion Horseback Riding Tourshorseback riding roads remain and provide guests of the ranch a range of horseback rides through rugged, Rocky Mountain high country.
All horseback rides at Zion Ponderosa Ranch Resort are conducted by East Zion Adventures. Our horses are chosen and trained to match the wide variety of guests that visit the resort. It is important to let your wrangler know about your past riding experience so he can team you up with the best horse possible. Our horses are young enough to enjoy the ride, strong enough to make the climbs, and obedient for safety reasons.

Pony Rides
Children under eight years old are too young for the horses but they will love our pony rides. Ideally suited for the beginners, our pony rides are led by wranglers and are very safe and last about 10 minutes.
Please Note: Most recreation activities are weather-dependant and, therefore, may not be available during wet time-frames and/or cold months. This includes ATV tours, horseback rides, Jeep tours, and paintball. Canyoneering is specifically available between May 15 and September 1.
